Among all the different Tea, more hype is about Green tea. In this article I will be mentioning about the benefits and side-effects of Green tea

 

Health benefits of green tea

 

  • Green tea helps in cancer prevention

 

  According to National Cancer Institute, the elements present in green tea like polyphenol shows to decrease the growth of tumours. Tests have been proven in  animal studies. In countries where green tea is consumed more amount, cancer rates have decreased. Consumption of green tea can help in following cancers

Colorectal cancer

Cancer of Oesophagus

Skin cancer

Prostate cancer

Stomach cancer

   Polyphenols in green tea helps to prevent the multiplication of cancerous still and prevents it from growing.

Side effects of green tea

  • Due to its caffeine content which is less compared to that of coffee people who are sensitive to caffeine must avoid having Green tea.
  • Green tea is a minimal blood thinner. People who take aspirin or other blood thinners medicines must avoid green tea.
  • Green tea causes insomnia if taken in large amount.
  • Green tea intake must be avoided and hypothyroidism.

How to prepare green tea?

  The taste of green tea is bitter. The bitterness is formed by allowing the green tea bag to soak in water for a long time. Green tea can be enjoyed with its mild taste which is equally beneficial. When green tea bags soaked it in the mug of hot water for more than a minute it turns Bitter.

Soak the Green tea bags for 45-55 seconds, and the green tea bags can be reused.

If the green tea leaves are used, keep it for maximum of 1 minute in boiling hot water and sieve  it immediately

Different flavours of Green tea are available. Use the one that fits your taste buds. To add some natural flavours one can use honey, cinnamon; Ginger and lime.
